I have an issue! Maybe we can all help me. Lately there have been several news reports related to our privacy and freedom of choice. Who has the right to spy on us in the name of national security? And does the media and those complying with onerous thugocrat intrusions have a real responsibility to go along with it? I say NO!

The news media and the company's who are being asked to go along with the efforts by an out of control political system, "whom electorate enabling hath turned inside out" through partisanship. Now has to live confronted by the real danger of an excess of control from the very system they supported and are also counted among its members. It isn't only the government, we have the same thing with social media, internet and phone company providers. Control seems to be everywhere online off line and even at work and shopping.

The information age touted as a bastion of free exchanges between like minded individuals who could usher in a new era of liberty and its expression, has at best faltered because of the reality that its also controlled.
I like to think of it as a series of fences constructed to contain an outcome based on needs by those who would be less free if we had control. Although beautiful in its construction. Our passions to excite the sensibilities of each other are still nothing more than posts on a fence.

I totally agree. Both left and right (as well as religious extremists) have an authoritarian agenda and use any excuse to try and oppress the people and restrict or remove as many freedoms as possible.

You can only run the country from an extreme position in a dire emergency; 99% of the time you have to run it from the centre.

Thanks Heeey. I find most people are cntent to show up and go along. Giving up control to people because others  are doing it. So in large number we are corralled to acquiesce like happy cattle.
I question everything, lol. When you join a forum and they tell you not mention another forum, let that be a sign- somebody is controlling you. You cant freely express yourself. Thats why my forum is different.

It does seem like Americans are losing more and more privacy. Nothing on the Internet is private, IMO. Facebook 'privacy' is a joke. I would only use it to promote something.

Btw, I added your forum link to the new 'Suggested Forums' category.  smile

Thanks for the link. Thats what will happen with the tea party it will split up and a part of it will be limited government, made up of both democrats and republicans fed up with unresponsive officials.

Good article and good question.

Reminds me of that Ben Franklin quote, "He who would trade security for liberty deserves neither."

There are always those who will abuse power, as we've seen with the IRS.
